Inverter

Galley sink drain strikes again! I installed new rubber fittings at both ends, but didn’t replace the hose - came back to bite me! Water followed a water line over the inverter and the inverter appears to have fatal issues.

We currently have zantrex 458 (10 years old), which is still available. It’s always easier to replace with what was already there, but wondering about upgrading. We don’t have a residential refrigerator. Any suggestion on an alternative?

I have been very happy with my Magnum Energy ME2012. You can pay extra for pure sine wave but I run residential fridge, TVs, Blue ray, computers, router, other electronics, microwave, etc. all with no problems. Enjoy.

With today's electronics and potential of issues with MSW, I would upgrade to PSW.

That Xantrex 458 was old technology when it was installed in 2009.

Sticking with MSW inverters is like keeping drum brakes or bias ply tires when upgrades are not that expensive.

Hi Bill,
You can change to the Xantrex freedom 2012.
Easy install. Also have a look what remote display, if you have the “newer”model display it will plug right in.
Have a look at it p, you might like it.

This is about the easiest upgrade......I personally would recommend going to a little higher amperage unit (2800-3000W) and the upgrade will be pretty easy as WRV used #6 wire from transfer switch to inverter and then to the panel so no need to worry about the wiring.

The Magnum MS2800 is nice because the wiring in place for the Xantrex control panel is a direct replacement for the magnum controller and is also Lithium compatible in the future with the ARC control panel.

The best of the best is Victron and then you wouldn't even need a control panel as you can rin everything from your phone........ but that's another story

I'm pretty happy with my xantrex 3012. 150 amp charger and 3000 watt invert capabilities. Did run 4/0 cable to batteries.
