I decided to switch the Halogen "puck" lights to LED's and following tips by Mike & Mike on this forum I purchaes the KR6 LED dimmers from Kick lighting.
I replaced the four over the couch first without a problem but when I connected the switch to the three over the rocker chair behind the passengers seat the lights stayed on whether I had the LED dimmer on or off. I took out the switch and using a meter found that the + IN and + OUT were continuous regardless of the switch being ON or OFF. I suspected a bad switch so tested the second of three switches I had purchased with the same results.
Not wanting to pull out and mess with the first switch which was working fine I contacted Kick Lighting who sent me a 4th switch - which tested the same. + ON to + OUT are always a complete circuit. I tried reversing the red and white wires in the coach system on the switch, switching the RED then WHITE to the + terminals with no difference.
I can get the lights to come on but not off!
Kurt or Kirk at Kick pulled switches from stock and confirmed the same results and has e-mailed the company engineers in China asking why. I know the LED dimmers operate by pulsing the voltage, essentially stretching out the 60 cycles, rather than lowering the voltage as most reostat switches but there still should be an OFF position.
Any ideas?
