microwave vent leaking

It appears our outside microwave vent is leaking to the inside. We see water running down the wall under the microwave and puddling on the counter. It seems to happen when water has accumulated on the slide awning and we close the slide. Has anyone else had this happen? If so how did you repair? Should there be some sort of damper behind the vent covering?

Use your jacks to tilt your MH to one end, then retract the awning after you've poured off the water.

Since my Alpine does not have an outside vent for the microwave I can only guess why water is leaking to the inside. Regardless of whether the water is coming from the slide topper or from rain on the side of the slide, it should not be able to enter.

Again, without a picture or knowing what the vent looks like, this is all a guess. Most vents have some type of cover or louvers that shed water from above. If yours does also, the most likely area of entry is around the vent covering itself, where it is attached to the outside wall. Check that carefully. I would go so far as to suggest you remove the outside cover and inspect where the vent tube exits the wall and seal/calk around the wall penetration. Then, reinstall the vent cover and calk around the outside perimeter as well.

If the water is actually entering the vent tube, then it is coming in through the opening itself. This is where an angled cover or louvers should be applied.

What year and model coach do you have?

It may very well be leaking from the top of the slide as there is a big leakage issue here as a result of Alpine using 2 pieces of aluminum trim on top vs a single piece. It's good idea to reseal the top of the slide anytime the slide topper is off
