Naked bookseller @ quartzsite dies

Paul Winer, Quartzsite’s ‘naked bookseller’, dies
During the years that Melba Sue Jacobson Shannon & I traveled back and forth across the country in our motorhome, we always tried to be in Quartzsite, AZ in January where tens of thousands of RV people gather for the Rock & Gem/RV show. The little town turns into a gigantic flea market .FUN place to be. Our Alpine motorhome group held a rally each year sometimes with 150 coaches with catered meals and live entertainment out in the middle of desert. After the rally, we would camp with Shirley Martin & Bill for another week or until we ran out of water. Try going two weeks with just 100 gallons of water....It can be done but you need lots of deodorant.

The desert brings out all kinds of interesting, different....VERY different people such as Paul Winer. Imagine walking into a small bookstore and seeing a boney old man wearing nothing but a hat and a pouch around his privates. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Besides being a local character, he was an accomplished musician. [moderator edit]

Rest in peace Paul. You will be missed!

Basil- Sorry to hear about your friend. Did they bury him in his best suit?
