Ernie,

We had our annual service done at Cherokee Farms RV Center in Foley Alabama and found them to be quite competent. They also had parts in stock to fix a problem we were having at the same time.

Found it. Do I need to take off the black cover? Or is the silver box (noted as 385) the Webasto as it says that on the side of the box.

The silver box is the burner controller.
The black burner unit comes out as a complete assembly.

I would suggest reading up on how to service or watching a service guy the first time. There are a few items to watch out for when removing and reinstalling. Also you would need to parts on hand to actually service the burner.

Here is a link to the 200 and 700 series units.

There are also many videos on servicing these units.
Here is one example.

Is there a way to check for spark at the igniter? Does the webastor controller feed the power to the igniter in the burner?

Yes the controller sends power to the spark coil.

You can manually apply 12v to the coil but you need a full understanding of the system.

The manual and troubleshooting chart guides you through some of the processes for diagnosing problems. As I mentioned earlier troubleshooting the Webasto burner is not easy. Many techs just replace parts till it works. Some may actually test individual portions of the system. There are some specific sequences and test points to review.

One thing you do not want to do is create further damage to the system. It will get very expensive to repair in a hurry.

Heat is back to working like a champ. Had the Aqua Hot serviced yesterday. Looks like it just needed a little clean up and new parts. The nozzle, points, fuel filter and grommets were replaced and wha-la. Paid to have that done, but think I can do that myself next time.

As for heat in the back of coach, (zone 2),the air circulator found behind the washer/dryer had a partially disconnected hose that ran the vent under the shower. The line has to make a long run, so the air forced out is not great. Also, the power source that powered the circulation fans under the bed had a disconnected wire. Crazy, but it looks like the line was never connected. That leaves me with scratching my head as to why.

Zone 2 update:

Connected the already provided line to the bed circulation fan and presto works like a champ. It appears that for some reason the connections were never made from the factory. So the previous owner never had heat coming form under the bed.

Curious--"looks like it was never connected"....how can you tell this....perhaps the previous owner decided they liked a cool bedroom for sleeping?

As I can make out from all the back-and-fourth, you seemed to never be able to get the heat pumps in the roof to provide heat. If so, did you figure out why not?

Just wanted to add, having an Apex 40, as you do, I have been knee deep in all facets of the HCAC system on board, and if you still have any questions re: your system, PM me at
