We'd like to introduce ourselves, and ask for some direction too. We've had 2 motorhomes and currently have a truck / travel trailer so we can carry our big ATV with us. We've full-timed in the past and are planning to return to "most-timing" (6-9 months/year) so have decided we'd like to go back to a motorhome. We live in Central Oregon and are currently heading home from a 6 month trip to Mexico this winter. After lots of research, for many reasons we've decided we want the Alpine 40 FDQS (2005 or later).

John uses a wheelchair so the wide entry door, 4 slides, and spacious bathroom quickly won our favor. I also prefer the driver side galley. This model where the bathroom sink slides out with the bed slide 'sealed the deal' as all that space works well for both bedside and bathroom.

So, we've been looking online and while there are multiple Alpines for sale, we'd really appreciate it if someone sees or has one of this model for sale, please let us know. We hope to find one in time for our Mexico trip this fall!

Also, can someone explain the exact difference between the Limited and the Apex, or direct me to a previous discussion where it's explained.

We look forward to joining the Alpine owners association too. This seems like a great group here so we're glad we found it.

J&L- Welcome to the community.
Apex- a very full featured coach w/a lot of interesting automation features. I'll let some of the Apexers give you the list. They do come w/SmartBeds, hydraulically extended storage beds in the basement area that I think are the best innovation in motorhoming since slide out rooms.
Limited- the "standard" trim level coach from (now out of biz) Western RV. Comes with nice solid wood cabinets, good quality (mostly) componentry, and the great ride of an Alpine's custom Peak chassis (Apex has same chassis & ride).
SE- an otherwise "Limited" coach, but with SmartBeds.

I believe the reorganization of the basement to accommodate the SmartBed started in 2006, and it included some really nice improvements to the utility bay and huge improvement to the access & cleanliness of the HWH hydraulic compartment that houses the gear to run slides & SmartBeds in/out.

DeMartini was once an Alpine dealer, and is a great place to deal with; very straight forward outfit. They could not get volume discounts from WRV so they became a huge Monaco dealer by moving huge volumes of coaches at great prices. They have about a dozen RV spaces at their Grass Valley facility for folks getting service while living in their coaches.

Welcome to the Form. Since you live in Oregon you can try Guaranty RV in Eugene OR. Lindsay Hargett from Guaranty said that they still have several Alpine’s in stock when he was at the Alpine SoCal Rally this week.

We were at Guaranty during the last week of April where we purchased our '03. There were several 40 ft Alpines there, both Apex and Limited.

We just went through the process of researching and buying our first Alpine SE Limited FDQS 40' coach. See our post on the subject:

The many public and private replies from this post were invaluable in helping us make the final selection. One of our final choices was a 2007 Apex on sale at Guaranty for 50% off MSRP. Guaranty doesn't have any FDQS coaches other than this. They have LOTS of 36 footers. All the repo sales at DeMartini have been sold - they were too good a deal.
