Exactly .. if you have auto fill there is probably a “red hat “ solenoid near the pump / water valving. When my tank only went to 50% and no further , I basically put a switch and hot wire to it to turn on the valve allowing water to flow to the tank. Since the Auto off function is bypassed it of course would over flow out the tank overflow pipe when full and you would manually turn the “ new” valve switch off.
