Hi All,
In my rig (2006 36FDDS), the Karadon counter top has a joint at the back left of the stovetop. It's like magic, when the slide is out, the joint parts to reveal a 1/4 inch gap and when the slide closes, the gap is gone.
Has anyone had this problem and how was it fixed? Thanks.
Milo

I seem to have a similar problem. However it has expanded. Now I have two cracks through my countertop. A local company (Surface Authority) wants $685 to fix it.
It seems that the flex was too great and they popped loose. And boy did they pop! Both times I thought I'd been hit by a meteor.
I think that if WRV had mounted them only to the cabinet bases and only siliconed them to the slide box, the flex would not have been so severe. As it is, I'll be paying out to a third party for a poor original design.
But I still love my Alpine!

Dessa still blames me for causing the crack that appeared at the front of the counter, between the stove and the couch. She says I caused it (and yes, it was a loud crack) by setting a hot cup of coffee on a cold counter.
A local kitchen counter repairman used epoxy and a piece of one of our sink covers, which we never used, to repair it for $150 or thereabouts. No problems since, and the repair is invisible.

F&D ABQ,
My problem resulted from a screw misaligned by WRV during installation of the Karadon top bracing. Apparently, the screw started in the countertop brace but pierced the bottom edge of the Karadon section behind the stovetop. It ultimately caused the piece of Karadon to move as the slide extended. The solution was to re-brace the cabinetry on the inside tying all the drawer frames together, removing the ill-placed screw, and adding a plate of 3/4 thick plywood underneath the Karadon immediately behind the stovetop. I worked like a charm--now, there is no movement at all.
