PTL screen door seals

The top seal on the screen door, after close to 18 years finally gave up the ghost. I called PTL Engineering and after I sent them a picture of the PTL label on the door they sent me replacement seals. There are 2 types of seals. The first is the hinge side and top and bottom pieces, the other is the latch side. I asked them to add a foot to what they said were the correct lengths (better to have 11” extra than be short a 1/2”). The new seals arrived in a couple of days. The only ‘gotcha’ is you have to cut your own 45 degree angles then super glue the joint. In order to do this correctly I took the screen door off and laid it on a table. A couple of joints got a bit of black butyl caulk, but things are good. Just have to break in the seals, doors are hard to close, but getting better every day.

Also be aware that PTL is closed on Fridays.

Latch Upgrade

Good to know! On a related note I seem to recall a long time back that someone figured out how to upgrade the screen door latch to a spring type latch. If anyone has that info please post it here or in the Tips & Upgrades thread. Thanks.
