I too gave up on ours and went to a portable counter top model.

This way I get to control the quality of water I use.

153,
Great ideas. All very doable. There is even room to install a small reverse osmosis system in the bay below the bathroom where the 1/4" water tube feeds off the main line. Or add a new line to tie into a filtered kitchen faucet. ....but why bother.
It's super fast and easy to simply use cube trays or pick up a bag of ice at a store.
My opinion is fewer things to malfunction is better.
When I removed the refrigerator water tubing and plugged the valve hole, I got a sense of relief---one less thing to worry about.
Clink. 🍹

I have a filter in the line on mine.
About a simple as it gets....
Nothing on the counter taking up valuable space and on less this to pack and unpack Evey time I move.

Hey Dave, I guess I haven't been paying attention; didn't know you had moved to Fl. Sure takes care of the winterizing doesn't it? When we lived in Ky. I had to deal winterizing. It was a PITA.
In reading through the ice maker posts, and peoples problems with the taste of cubes made with tank water from various sources, it occurred to me...doesnt the water for the icemaker run through the built in charcoal filter in the refrigerator? Either that is so, or my taste buds aren't very sensitive.....of course that only applies to those of us who have the Amana boxes. I guess.

We've had an R.O. system in the house for decades. I recall that it takes a fair amount of water pressure to push through the membrane; wondering if the RV pump is capable.

Dudley,

Yes the in line filter in the refer should clean up anything in the water line.

Yes we did move to FL in 2018. No more winterizing! It beats the weather on V
Cape Cod.
