Red engine light
After "resting" for a few months, our new to us 2008 Alpine upon starting is showing us the stop engine light and the yellow transmission light . What could this mean?
Ps, before putting her away this fall, she was completely serviced at Cummings.

Do you have an OBD code reader or know someone who can connect one and read the engine/computer codes for more specific information?

Check your owners manuals for what to do when the lights you have are lit.
Let us know if you need more guidance.

From your post, it seems that the two lights are on at start up, correct? Does that mean they never were extinguished once the engine started, as all dash lights are, or did they light up again once the engine was running?
Agree with others to check your manual first before restarting.

STOP ENGINE------This indicates a MAJOR system problem. The vehicle should be stopped as soon as safely possible
CHECK TRANSMISSION-----This WARNS the operator of an active component or system fault. The vehicle should be serviced to solve the problem, but the situation is not considered an emergency
You will need to have 'mobile engine tech' come out and using an OBD reader pull up the 'specific engine/tranny' codes that set the Stop/Warning lights.
Then with specific fault codes you can decide on how to address issue.....drive to service center or tow it OR possibly reset and see it it triggers again
RED STOP....that is biggest concern

I'm wanting to learn myself so I'm going to ask. I purchased a silverleaf program and some of the Alpines came with it built in. Mind reads codes. Does your coach have this? If you have oil pressure its not going to fly apart. The transmission will read its codes when up to temp. There's a scan gauge that will read codes also. I would call Cummins where you took it and tell them what's going on and see if you get input. Was there any oils under the coach? You can also go to Cummins forum and ask.

.....with the 2008 engines and all the exhaust "treatments," you have all kinds of "opportunities" for check engine lights. Frankly, theses engines are pretty smart--it would be rare that the engine would even start if there was something catastrophic going on here. Don't let the "red light" squad get you all worried. Get a qualified tech with a scanning tool out there to see what the engine is saying. Without an interpretation of the codes -- we are all guessing!!!!!

Red Light Squad.......LOL
OP doesn't have a 'CHECK ENGINE' light ON....he has a RED STOP ENGINE Light
Owners Manual for OP RV is where the statements posted came from.
Any RED Light Squad would be the ENGINE MFG and their warning
STOP ENGINE------This indicates a MAJOR system problem. The vehicle should be stopped as soon as safely possible
CHECK TRANSMISSION-----This WARNS the operator of an active component or system fault. The vehicle should be serviced to solve the problem, but the situation is not considered an emergency
YES..........ODB Codes need to be READ so information based decision can be made.
As was suggested.

To the OP.
Please report on the resolution of this RED LIGHT warning so others can be made aware as it seems to have appeared under unlikely circumstances.

Cummins mobile came out and hooked us up to the computer. Seems our engine had never had an update. It is a 2008 which sat in storage a number of years. We took it to Cummins to have it gone through last fall, seems they didn't check for updates, odd, seeing as how we told them the story and asked them to really look it over.
The coach had no mechanical issues, however, the technician told us it definitely would have shut down. Glad this happened at home and not on the middle of I5 in 6 lanes of traffic.
Thanks everyone for your input. Now on to Arizona!
