On Friday we smelled amonia (though not nearly as strong as back in Dec.) This time the refrig. has completely gone out. Too bad it didn't qualify for being fixed back when we took it in for a check in January when we were at home. It would happen on our trip.
I assume WRV does not work on appliances. If that is the case, does anyone have recommendations of who to use in Yakima? The plan now is to try to get to Yakima to have both the refrig. and other problems fixed (hopefully?)

Greeting! Though may not be so 'smiley' as you wish.....
You didn't say what yr Alpine you had. My '03 with the Amana gave up the ghost, and the insurer said it couldn't be fixed, and so paid me off. End of shortened long story.
In Starke, Fl. there is a mobile RV repair co. named Sky Meadows. I took measurements, and went shopping for a replacement. They, Sky Meadows, took out the window by my lounge chair, removed the Amana, inserted the new 26 cu. ft. Frigidaire and hooked it up, and replaced and caulked the window. About $150 for the whole job. Took them about an hour.
If you want it fixed before you head west, I suggest and recommend this outfit.
Jim from Douglas, Georgia.
Good Luck.

We are in Cascade, IDaho, pop. 1000. We have a 2006 36'FDDS, with a Dometic unit. We will probably have to have the cooling unit replaced, which will take at least a week to get it, wherever we are. So, we thought we should go on to Yakima, as we don't know how long we will be there.

RV Mobile rebuilds cooling units which they sell to local service outfits & DIY'ers (for those w/the guts to tear the guts outa your fridge). I'd give them a call, discuss the details of your fridge failure, and see if they have worked w/anybody in the neighborhood.

Beverly,
Try either Aubrey's RV Center (509-453-4709) or Butler's Welding (509-457-4686). Both do RV maintence and have a working relationship with WRV. I've used Aubrey's a couple of times for warranty work here in Yakima.

Thanks for these replies. Now, after four days of not working, the refrig. and freezer have started up again (after I'd given away good organic, free range meat I'd had frozen). The freezer even made ice. This is the same thing it did in Dec. when we were in Florida. Had amonia smell, quit working for several days, then started up again. When we took it for service, the temp. tested okay, and warranty wouldn't replace cooling unit. Well, I guess it will eventually go out, but in the meantime, guess we'll be glad it's working for now.

Now, this morning, the refrig.is not working as well as it should. We are going to struggle along another week, so that we will be at a more convenient location to have it repaire. I just hope it acts up enought that it will qualify for being repaired. I am getting tired of this "on and off" working.
