Refrigerator power

Just discovered something, by accident, that I never even thought about.

After returning from our recent trip, I parked the MH and shut off both the house and chassis disconnects. When I opened the fridge to empty the contents, it was still ON. The light came on, the circulating fan was on, and the panel lights were on. Pushed the ON/OFF button and it shut down.

I assume that is SOP for the fridge, but since I haven't boondocked and don't have shore power in storage, I never thought about it and I always check that all devices/switches are OFF when in storage.

So, is this "normal" for Alpines and other MHs? Is the fridge wired to the battery side of the cut-off so it always is powered? If so, what is the advantage? If I understand things correctly, the converter will not charge the house batteries if the house batteries are disconnected, but will it supply DC directly to the refrigerator?

Yes, as well as all other DC loads. Never any need to open the house battery disconnect if you are plugged in.
