I joked about the Grade 8 bolts when I flipped mine. EngineerMike said it was just what WRV had on hand.

Do you recall what size bolts you used?
This is a small project that I have been meaning to get done.

I considered tapping the factory bolt threads full-length. They're long enough at 3 3/4" to exit the VANSCO case, easily allowing attaching nuts, even with the added retaining bolt at the firewall.

A few posts back Whalepirot said he used 1/4-20 X 4" bolts, and considered cutting off 1/4 inch. (But didn't.)

Yeah I did see that, I was curious if Kid also used 1/4".

Yes, 1/4”. Tough to measure accurately from inside. Looks like 3 3/4”, but that is an odd length. There’s a 1/2” extra length, but it doesn’t contact the panel.

I don’t think I would use grade 8, but I would use stainless steel! Any time I replace a bolt that does not need to be grade 8 I use SS. WRV should have used then throughout the coaches.

Using stainless throughout would have created an unnecessary expense for any manufacturer. For an individual owner it may present a bling opportunity. In the case of the front module modification, the bolts are neither visible nor exposed to corrosive elements.
