Replacing Duo Therm Thermostat

My wife is convinced that the A/C thermostat is not functioning properly because when the thermostat is set at 73, the A/C it doesn't run even when the temperature in various places around the coach is close to 80.
(Of course, I can bump the thermostat down, and it works fine.) I know the thermostat sensor is above the driver's seat over the side window, and that is where the sun beats down in the afternoon, so it probably should be sufficiently warm to trigger the A/C. Just to satisfy her I may go ahead and replace the thermostat. Has anyone done that? Are there just a few wires that connect in obvious places? Or, is it a more complicated procedure?

Got the same problem with my 2001 with the AC and Heat. I would like to know how you make out.
