Replacing heater hose front to rear

I have done no looking at my coach, but is it hose from front to rear, or is there a connection to pipe? If hose, has anyone replaced? Some years back I replaced a bunch of hoses and belts at the engine. A couple of years back I also installed a new heater. I know some have just put a couple of ball valves near the engine in case a leak happened. I have owned this coach 14 of its 17 years.

I'd definitely check to see if it's rubber heater hoses or just stubs connected to metal (copper?) tubing. Many folks that have had the failure of heater or A/C lines have just run new lines because the originals were installed in the frame then the tanks, compartments, and other items make access very expensive and difficult.

R and C,

I replaced mine a couple of years ago, front to back, heater and HH.

On my 05 there was no pipe anywhere, hose from the block to the heater core and back, as well as the Hydro Hot. The hose had cable ties along the frame rails and some of them were a PITA to get to. They were the type that tie around the hose and also attach to the frame with a knob that pushes through a hole, I can't remember what the call them.

After I emptied the basement and bins, where'd all that stuff come from, I spent a couple of hours just looking and tracing the hoses and searching for points of attachment. I had attaching points in both wheel wells and also in the propane tank bin. You should be able to see the knobs of the ties pushed through the frame, I cut them off with a chisel, there's no inside access to them. Once I had the hose all loose I started the replacement.

I drained just enough coolant to get below the level of the heater and block. I identified and marked the hoses at both ends using colored tape.

At the rear bulkhead separating the engine from the basement there was foam in the hole sealing the hose entry and at the front there was also foam between the basement and the generator/gas tank area.

It's a job but it's doable, I did mine in my driveway over a 3 day period taking my time.

I believe I have a couple of older posts about the project. I added 4 valves two at the front of the engine, rear of MH, and two at the rear of the block under the bedroom access hatch.

Rather than ramble on, its getting kind of wordy, feel free to drop me a PM if you want to discuss this a little more.

In case you're wondering I replaced mine, just because! I used Gates green stripe hose, silicone hose was suggested as an option.

Terry

Terry, thanks for the reply. Sounds tedious, but with a few days and some beer, should be able to accomplish. Gonna be a while before I get to this, since I am taking off for a few months.
