Walt,

the audio/video switch doesn't really switch the audio out from the TV, it controls the RP/DHS unit to select input from TV (video) or the dash radio (audio). There shouldn't be any signal degradation; I think what's happening instead is introduction of noise, either from another RF source or through a ground loop.

The only reason to connect both audio and video from my combo unit to the Winegard was to enable connection of this device to the bedroom tv and patio, as the factory has set up.

It's not that I want to route DVD/VCR to the bedroom TV/patio (I'm gonna replace the BR TV with a DVD unit like you and don't care about the patio), it's to enable a standard definition (via rca jacks) connection from the satellite to the bedroom tv (can't pipe high def to the BR because the connection is coaxial and must run through the Winegard modulator).

Hope that helps; confuses me too....

Walt, All humor intended, cuz it is funny, I swiped the glass turntable outa the Advantium oven to "tune" the subwoofer. Don't know which kid @ the factory had it set for window-rumble-bass, but we couldn't watch TV or a DVD; the bass drowned the entire sound track. Probably sounded cool for a "rap" CD.
And I went thru the Kenwood DVD manual, tried to get a menu, but didn't switch TV modes (Kenwood manual doesn't cover that, & I haven't looked in the Alpine Coach manual). I haven't tuned it down yet (still have mode set to "glass-plate", & gotta fetch it out when momma wants to cook), but assume Wayne saved me a boatload of time when I get to that. Just finishing up my RO installation this weekend, so I'll have to get back to AV system next. Mike
