Roof to trim clear coat failing

Anyone else had this happen? The rest of the coach's paint is like new. Had bids from $2600-$7000 to paint and clear coat the 4" strip on both sides of the coach. Couldn't stand it so had it done. Coach is like new again

I thought that was my roof when I saw the picture! What did it cost? and I would think that only the clear coat would have to be fixed.

As with a car you can't just sand off the clear coat and reapply. You have to repaint and then apply fresh clear coat. The company that did the work gave me a lifetime guarantee on the clear coat (not sure whose lifetime). Total $2600 which included the rear wing and the tips of the end cap. I am very satisfied as it made the coach look almost new again.

Mine looks the same. Clear coat is lifting from the sun. I dropped by a local body shop in San Jose that works on RV's to get an estimate. 2k for the front of the motor home due to removing the clear bra which pulled paint off with it.
The shop estimater sugessted something different, he told me that they have been painting the top edges with a material similar to pick up bed liner. He said they can color match pretty well. This would not include the strip, just one color the entire length. This would cost 3k.
Cost to repaint as original would be 4k.
He said all brand motor homes have this problem if they live outside. Paint typically fails at about 7 years.
The bed liner paint should last for a life time, depending on your age.
Not sure what I'm going to do, but I am leaning towards the bed liner paint.

Mule, this shop guaranteed me lifetime on his clear coat. Why go with a one color bed liner for more $
Sandy, Bay Area Body Shop on Cedar Av in Newark. Was in the shop for about 10 days but that was partly because of 4th of July time frame. They do a lot of Rv work.

Jerry, you are absolutely correct! Thanks for the tip. I didn't notice that we live so close together. I was going back and forth between the two options. I guess that is why I have not done anything yet.
