Searching Alpine Coach forum contents

Used to be that the Search feature provided w/in the forum's software (button immediately above & on right side of thread list at Alpine Coach Owner's Forum page) searched all Alpine threads back to the beginning of forum time. Some coupla years back they changed software & that button only searches back a few years or so. There are a lot of authoritative threads posted some time back now, and I can't find much using the forum search any more.

Google to the rescue.
To do a proper search these days, use the Google search button at top of every page to search a specified-url_specified-text-string where the underscore (_) denotes a space, here is an example:
site:irv2.com/forums/f104 kitchen sink drain leak
Note the space between f104 and kitchen, which separates the internet subset, or specified url, Google will search, from the text string you are searching for (in this case kitchen sink drain leak). The text in bold italics indicates to Google to search only w/in that url and its contents, and it assumes the http://www. You can also do this direct from google w/out signing into iRV2 I believe. This text string limits google to this forum and searches all of the specified forum back to the beginning for threads containing the words in the search string.

Your search string is literal and inclusive; i.e. if you have 4 words, all 4 must be found (either each individually or some or all in the order presented) in the thread some place. Adding words is more restrictive or specific; less words means its easier to find threads w/just those. If you want to search for words in exact order together, you can put quotes around those: e.g. "kitchen sink drain leak" and Google will return only threads w/that phrase verbatim. You can combine a quoted phrase, followed by a space and other words to be searched individually along w/the phrase.

You can do this search anywhere on the internet, not jsut irV2. You can search other forums, say Cummins, the same way.

I think the basic search feature stops a year or 2 back now just to make life fun

Mike, the search is further restricted in the Apple iPad app, the times I have tried it I have never gotten it to work properly, it returns everything, so now when I need to search I sign into the website, not the app.

Dumbo Here: I'm trying to follow EM fix on search. Here is what I get:

Your search - site:irvr2.com/forums/f104 lift pump leak - did not match any documents.

How do I get italics ? are they automatic.

I had this leak a few years ago and am trying to find the fix.

Thanks
