Security/scare light wiring drivers side
Sometimes you have that "Oh shucks" moment...I am converting both safety lights to LED on my Betsy. The light above the mid door was relatively simple. The wiring had spare length so no problem. The drivers side light had a short amount of wire. After removing the insulation to connect the new light, the wires slipped and fell down inside the wall which is right next to the shower. I have made a fishing wire with a small hook to try and fish the wires back up to the light.
Has anyone else experienced this awesome blunder? I'm trying to determine whether the wiring is coming out of the top or bottom so I have an idea of where to fish.
I also removed the panel cover in the fresh water area below the light and I can see the grey water and black water tanks, valves and such. There are also various wire bundles. Any idea of how to correct my dilemma ?

sounds like a good excuse to buy a bore scope that hooks up to your phone.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0836XWPJH..._pxu-Eb27WD4BM. This is one of many to pick from. I don't have one yet haven't had a good excuse to buy one.

Great idea! I can probably use this for many other troubleshooting projects.
Thanks
Ron

Please post your results of where you located the wiring. My neighbor has an Alpine and when we were troubleshooting why the scare light didn't work, we discovered there were no wires connected to the fixture. Any clues as to where they may be will be appreciated.

I agree, this is probably the best method to see what is what. Thanks for the idea.

I think I'm going to order the borescope and see what I find. I will post the results.

Depending on floorplan, may be easier to use a fish from the other end. Then may be able to use old wires or may be easier to just replace them with new (making sure to disconnect the old hot wire.

I've a slightly used SnapOn, acquired from a guy who loved tools and needed thepatest and greatest (lucky me). The color display is fed thru a 36" slex tube with a bright LED lighting the area for the camera. It also had two attachements: one allows 90 side looks; the other a small grabber.
I don't use it a LOT, but when looking inside walls, while non-destructive exploring, it is essential (home, RV and vehicular), as when I routed new, hidden wires for the floor heat.

It may be possible to determine the path the wiring takes by examining the wiring at the switch.
The wires falling down would lead me to believe they run down. But I have been tricked by gravity in the past.

I think I will buy the borescope since most of them are ten feet plus and then I should at least be able to locate the wires.

It would be my guess the wires from the switch run aft, then over in the ceiling, somewhere behind the bedroom wardrobe closet. From there anyone's guess. I second the borescope idea, since the schematic blueprints don't show wire routing.

I got one of those $18 USB borescopes. I have used it a lot to try and get to know what's going on behind the walls.
Definitely worth it. It comes with little hooks and magnets too. And you can adjust the brightness and also capture still and video images.
In a related story I came across a couple of years ago, I learned that the three porch lights are the number one source for wall delamination. So after you update the bulbs, make sure the openings are totally gooped up. That project has been on my list for a while.

Please share the results of your search.
No not for the wires... which scope do you end up getting?
I'm a little curious about the wires too, but more curious how well the scope works for you. I'v been wanting one of those tools for a long time.
