Smile Shurflo Water Pump Replacement

My 2000 Alpine needed a new fresh water pump, so I started looking around for a replacement. I believe a previous owner around 2007 replaced the original pump because the pump I took out was a Shurflo 2088-422-444 with a mfr date of 5-07. I'm not sure what pump started life in the coach in 2000.

Since my old pump, the 2088-422-444, is obsolete, I read online that the bolt-in replacement was a Shurflo 4008-101-A65. Well its close except in one important feature, the inlet and outlet are farther from the mounting base. In my motorhome, that meant the pump output water line when installed and mounted ran into an existing steel LP line. After much head scratching on mountings, exchanging the pump (what would I get?), or a new multi-elbow water line (Rube Goldberg style) , I hit on angling slightly the pump mounting to allow the water line and gas line to miss each other. I did this by putting two rubber spacers on the left side under the mounting feet.

After installation and some test runs, the new pump is much quieter than the old pump and starts and stops better and calmer. I read the new pump is a bypass pump and believe it allows the motor to start and stop more smoothly. Anyway this might help someone if you run into the same problem(s). Oh and yes, it took me the normal 3x the time as I estimated for the project.

Shorten the pump line
Replace with flex hose and loop it

4008 is indeed a Bypass Pump
Bypass opens on Low flow demand ...allows water from discharge side of pump to flow back to suction side of pump
Pump then runs under Low demand vs Cycling/pulsating On/Off

NHRA225, I do think Lippert Pump LC689052 might have been a better replacment choice than the Shurflo 4008-101-A65. It seems like the pipe locations would have matched better to my old pump. Thanks.
