Slide out repair

Does anyone know of a good place in Florida that does a good job on slide out repair? Your thoughts would be most appreciated.

Adjustment or repair? If repair, what is wrong with it?

Brett Wolfe, when we let the slide out the front left corner of the kitchen slide drops down and hits the tile and has already cracked the tile. We removed all the tile and want to make sure the slide is fixed before we put new tile down. We did have it looked at and they told us that the slide would have to come out. When we bring the slide back in it doesn't hit the tile, only when we let the slide out thats when that corner of the slide drops to the floor for about a foot then it will raise back up and doesn't drag. we have no way to know if the company is being truthful about taking the slide out or not.

I have cracked tile and my kitchen slide tips inward when you extend it so I am watching this thread too. It is the wide vertical trim board on my coach at the inner LH end of the kitchen slide that bounces downward when you first start to extend the slide and hits on the tile a couple bounces. It may also be initiated when an edge or seal on the slide sticks a little and starts the tip and bounce as it comes free. I have considered just cutting about 1/2" off of the trim but would rather fix the loose slide. I have found a couple old threads that discuss worn teflon shim pads (HWH p/n P10686) inside the main slide support tubes that I think could be damaged or worn causing the problem. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f104/slid...ed-112174.html and http://www.irv2.com/forums/f104/slid...l-61817-2.html There is a drawing in the ACA tech library that shows the assy of inner and outer square tubes and teflon support pads. These old threads hint at a repair tutorial, pictures and/or CD that may or may not exist but I couldn't find it on the ACA site. Maybe someone here knows about the repair and will chime in. I saw some names on the old theads I recognized as still active around here. It does look like others have replaced these pads without removing the slide so maybe your mechanic is just unfamiliar with this issue. My guess is you extend the slide, jack the slide up and then remove the steel tubes to get at and replace or shim the pads.

Carter, do you think the floor under the slide would have anything to do with this problem?

Not quite sure how you mean. I think my tile is ceramic and not porcelin. Ceramic is not nearly as strong and any tile can crack if you hit it or drop something hard on it. OSB or wafer wood as some call it that WRV used is not a great subfloor for tile so that probably contributes to it. If your floor was water damaged that can promote cracked tiles. Looks like WRV used a flexible mastic instead of a rigid mortar to set the tiles too. Probably to survive all the flexing a Motor home does.

I really doubt it. The two square tube assys under the floor are what support it and keep the slide in position. They are welded in place. It could be possible that the floor under the kitchen cabinets is damaged where the bottom of the slide is bolted to the flange at the end of the inner square tubes or possibly the bolts are loose/broken? When I have time to get into mine I plan to put the slide partway out and then push, pull, tug and pry on the slide to see what is loose.

Could be. Am I looking at rusted through sheet metal? Water damage could make the mounting at the flange soft. The flange looks to be only 12-18" away from where the visible damage is.
