I'm sure there's a thread about this but I cant find it if there is. on my 06 40 fdqs limited my door step does not start coming out until door is completely open an then its pretty slow. The slowness would not really be an issue if step started moving sooner. Is there an adjustment or is this normal on the alpine ? Thanks

Normal--but only if the step hasnt been lubed or maintained over the years--also check the activation button on the door jam for proper lube/operation......

there not a activation button to lube, it looks like its magnetic to me.

yeah it looks like a little magnet about the size of a nickel on both the jam an the door. I guess its a magnetic switch,don't really know. the action on the step is not really slow, like I said before if the door didn't have to be opened all the way before the step started to move it would be ok. all others I've owned started to slide out as soon as you start to open the door. maybe its the way it is designed to operate, just not use to standing in the door waiting on the step because I didn't open door all the way.

The "switch" could be detecting the magnet from too far away. I would test the switch and see when it activates then if you can adjust the alignment so it triggers as soon as the door opens (you may be able to twist the magnet). Also, as mentioned by Old Scout, you need to lubricate the pivot points and the motor on the steps, I would suggest twice a year. Go to the Kwikee website and download their users manual, it will show you where to lube.
