Smart Wheel

A while back my windshield wipers would just start working and when I'd try to shut them off on the Smart Wheel (?) the horn would start blowing to get it to go off I'd stop shut off the ignition and all would be good for a few miles then the whole process would start over. Had it fixed (I thought)and it was good for a while but coming home on our last trip the wipers again started all by them self, this time I was able to get them to go off without the horn blowing or having to stop.
Anyone got any ideas I know tech at the place I had it worked on did their best but intermittent electrical problems are a pain and hard to find and fix
Has anyone changed the switches to the dash and got rid of the Smart Wheel?

...lots of discussion about S/W on this forum...for older Alpines [mine is a 2003 and I had issues with the cruise control], it often helps to take apart the switches on the steering wheel and clean the multi-pin connectors...hard to give advice when we don't know what the "tech" did to try to "solve" the problem last time....

Smart Wheel

Thank for your input old Scout
The service manager said the tech found some bad fuses, don’t know how that would cause wipers to star
Has anyone changed the switches to the dash and got rid of the so-called smart wheel

Adding manual switches on a Non-Vansco coach would be a bit easier but can begin to imagine the effort required to rewire all the smart wheel functions. Think I would get a second "Tech" opinion on what is wrong and how to fix it......IMHO

I would think you have the Smart Wheel as my coach. Here is the troubleshooting manual.

My problem was an intermittent short to ground in the steering column. Took 4 trips to Redlands Truck & RV to fix it.

Redlands Truck & RV were the only folks in California that I could find that would work on it.
