Spoiler Bracket Dimensions

Do any of you folks who have lost and or replaced your spoiler know the dimensions of the 5 brackets that attach it to the coach?

I have only the center bracket. I know the brackets at each end of the spoiler are shorter than the center one.
I don't know if the other 2 brackets are the same height as the center one, the same as the outside ones or an intermediate height between the the center and outside.

OR
If anyone has an Alpine, a ladder, a tape measure, and a half hour I would appreciate it greatly if you could measure the height of the your brackets and post the info.

I don't know is the brackets are the same on all years of Alpines, but the spoilers all look the same from the ground. The information will be useful to other owners since reports of lost spoilers are occurring more frequently.

Scott Schaeffer, George Weiss, and I are the only 1998 owners listed on the ACA membership roster.

Thanks for your help.

I just reinstalled mine. Had to make 1 right hand bracket. Mine blew off on my why back from Colorado. It bounced off my new Jeep. But I was lucky the wires held it but it dragged on highway for awhile. I had no idea , but a motorest told me to pull over. So I took it to my friends body shop and he repaired and painted it. But had to do some modifications to get it to fit. I think it was up there with bubble gum before. I used 4 stainless screws with large fender washers and nuts. Remounted camera also. I can take some measurements for you tomorrow.

[QUOTE=sctalbott;6024608]I just reinstalled mine. Had to make 1 right hand bracket.
Steve,
Thanks for your help. Was the outside bracket that you made the same height as the other brackets? If so, we can just use the one bracket I have as a pattern.

I am in San Diego with the coach and the spoiler and bracket are in Red Bluff at the body shop. My friend at the shop thinks the brackets are all the same.

I hoping to get the spoiler repaired and the brackets made ahead of time and be ready to install on the coach when I return to Red Bluff.

I just noticed mine has a slight wiggle, so I’m planning to add some construction adhesive around the brackets. I’ll try to get some measurements. Just waiting for it to get above 40F to apply.

Kid Gloves,

Did you happen to notice if the brackets are all the same height?

What year is your Alpine? Are you aware of any differences in the spoilers and brackets for the different model years?

Thanks to you and anyone else who can answer these questions.

Mine are all the same 2001 38' FDDS. I don't have brackets on the "end". My brackets match the spacing of the running lights.

Mine is a 2005. It has 3 brackets. A large U-shaped one in the center where the camera is mounted and one on either end, left and right sides. The center bracket attaches to the spoiler on either side of the camera, so there are four points of contact. I took some measurements and will attempt to make a useful drawing from the notes.

Where the spoiler attaches to the brackets there appears to be one rivet at each point. The spoiler pivots, mine does, on that point, so I applied some Sikabond Construction Adhesive to my finger and smeared it into the gaps between the bracket and spoiler. The gaps are due to a difference in the angle of the bracket and the angle of the spoiler that creates a wedge of open space.

Big suprise. Alpine mounted the spoiler in at leat 2 different ways.

I did a search and found this photo on post 47 of a long thread regarding the spoiler:

It isn’t out of the question that it was mounted somewhere between 3 and 1400 different ways.

The photo shows brackets in the same locations as ours. However, the two outside brackets on our coach are “Z” shaped, fore to aft. They have a 1” tab on the forward end, bent at a 90 where it attaches to the coach and another 1” tab on the rearward end, bent at a 90 where it attaches to the spoiler.

Andy,
Your description sounds like the brackets on my 1998 coach. My 5 brackets were also mounted below each of the clearance lights.

Are all your brackets the same height?
I "thought" the 2 outboard ones on my coach were shorter than the others. If yours are all the same height then mine probably were also. The height is the only "critical' dimension-that is why I'm still flogging this horse.

I noticed today that the rivet holes in the coach for the 2 outboard brackets are only 2 5/8 inches apart. The holes for the 3 interior brackets are 4 inches apart.

Thanks for the links to the older threads. It appears that as early as 2003 that WRV had changed the bracket design

Yes pretty sure they are the same. Sorry I haven’t been feeling that great. I need to get on the roof of my house to measure them. Maybe tomorrow. I’m in La Crescenta, CA 91214. You are welcome to stop by on your way home if that will help. I’m just off the 210 fwy. (818)497-2810 Give me a call if ya like. Just got all my windows defogged today

The roof is uniform in height. The only difference in the brackets could be determine from where they attach to the spoiler. I believe all of mine are the same, but they are hard to see with the spoiler on the coach.

Boy! If this isn't a coincidence! I just lost mine on a trip bacy home from Indianapolis.
Don't know where it happened, but it's gone, along with the windshield of my toad. I'm kind of in the same boat as you, other than the fact that the bases of mine are still attached to the roof. If you'll look back about two weeks you'll see a post from me looking for the mane of a salvage yard in Kentucky that has some NOS spoilers. They have one older Alpine that may be about the same age as yours. Call Visone RV 606-843-9889 and ask for Trey. Mine is going to be about $1,000 plus shipping.
