Best procedure is to start the engine and THEN stow the jacks. And as already mentioned, hit store and do nothing else-- let it turn itself off. That way it will not trap fluid in the lines which could expand with rising temperatures and show "jacks down".
That way the jacks will go through their whole stow process. This also allows air pressure to build which is necessary before you can move anyway.

What does everyone think of "Hula Skirts"? People driving behind me in the rain seem to like mine.

Sorry if I've gone off-topic on this, but here's the HWH bulletin for false "Jacks Down" warnings.

I like "HULA SKIRTS", but I REALLY dig the coconut shell BIKINI tops that usually accompany them

Sorry, Terry, I can't find coconuts large enough to make a bikini top to fit me.

There is alot of information about mud flap do's and dont's in the vendor spotlight forum.
In short, the mud flaps in the fender well should be at least wide enough to cover the width of the tires, and within 4-6" of the ground as you move down the road. That will stop about 80% of the rocks. The rear mud flap, when hung correctly ( on chain with the ability to swing, and at least 4" off the ground) can catch even more, plus it will help if you have to go over something large like a tire piece or lumber in the road.
We have had customers tell us how they felt the large mud flap did stop a large item from reaching their toad. Ours helped keep our toad from getting covered with squirrel guts
The stainless steel piece can be sanded, with a clean piece of sand paper on a sander and a mask. This will eliminate the high shine, and helps keep the scratches from being so obvious.
So if your dually mud flaps are doing the job, don't go with the back flap unless you do like the looks, and hang it correctly.

Thank you for the tip on the Jacks. I believe this was our "Jacks Down" issue also. Now we know.

I was getting the "slow retract" so now I turn the engine on when retracting the jacks. The vibration seems to speed it up.

Rear wheel flaps is all that is needed. The full-width flap in the back is a junk-spreading advertisement, and nothing more.
After I took it off, the last 8000 miles made me say "holy moly, why did I wait so long"!
My ad-flap was 4.5 inches up, but debris was scared up with each bounce or dip at highway speed.
However, the dynamics of air flow may be different for many rigs, including the length between rear tire flaps and the back of the coach. Some get damage with and some without an ad-flap.
Wonder if my length with tag axle and a side radiator make part of the difference? Hmmmm

Rick, search on "Jacks stuck" or "HWH problems", (there are several variations on the wording) you will find lots of posts. The best cure I have found, is WD-40 on the jacks several times a year.

We removed the BIG mud flap about 3 years ago. In addition to its specious value, I just did not like how heavy it was. We use the hula skirt now. I have not noticed any difference in engine temp, engine compartment cleanliness, or in rock chips on the toad: same ol' - same ol', IMO, just lighter.
When we sold the S&B this summer we took the BIG mud flap to the dump. There it shall forever rest next to the broken rear seat of our Wrangler, a self-destructive model volcano, an old camp chair, and a 1/16 scale Cape Hatteras Light that one the kids had made for a science project back in the days when a chalk board was for chalk. R.I.P.
