Perhaps some Norcold refers are different than others. When i called JC Refrigeration, they told me to specifically run the fan power cord down the inside of the defrost tray drain tube. It was a tight fit, a little WD40 helped.

In my particular case, I needed to use the fan, or the cooling fins in the refer box would ice up totally. I expect different refers may act differently than mine. But overall, a simple enough install, and very happy with the results. And it did not impede drain flow when defrosting. Although once everything was working right, with little ice buildup, there isn't much to drain anymore.

I have been struggling with the jc vs home refrigerator question for some time. I have a 1200. Like others my furnace is located below. To lower my deck to get any of the home units to fit the deck would need to be resting on the furnace and I don’t think that’s a good idea. Otherwise I would need to lower the furnace I have to change the outside venting also not something I think I want to do.

I really don’t like the 1200 small, shelves suck, two part freezer is dumb, etc. but it fits.

Right now we are full-timing as our house is built so I think it’s annoying me more than it would on trips.

So I have decided to go with the jc. I think if we were always going to be full-timing then the home unit would be put in but for now for me the JC is best option.

I think it all comes down to how you utilize what you have and evaluate what’s best for you.

Also the only unit that’s close to fitting is fisher/paykal and at 2k+ the JC is less $.

Oh on that note I think I am going to tap off the old gas line to provide a hook up for a grill.

That's what we did and now hook up our Blackstone and Propane firepit.

Just wondering, do all of these residential fridges that people are installing blow the warm exhaust air into the coach? That was one of the big reasons I went with a JC unit. Maybe it’s not even an issue.

You can pick up a quick disconnect for a propane system at lowes, HD etc, or even your full service propane dealer. I have installed them on all of our coaches and trailers over the years. I don't have any pics but it looks just like an air hose fitting with a rubber dust cover on it. We use it for the BBQ and our LPG campfire.

Y'all that R/R'd the reefer. (Kinda off topic)

I don't want the R/R, but, is there room in the Dining area wall fwd of the reefer to install an electrical box and run 2 Romex wires down to the space under the fridge? Thx
