Well, we are back on the road after 2 months of repairs to fix damage to side of coach when the passenger front tire failed.
The tires were Toyo had no side wall checking and had just 30,000 miles and lots of tread still on then.
New tires allround and final repairs completed in 2 months at Saddleback RV in Irvine. One month to get all the parts from the factory and about 4 wks to install and paint the new pannels.
Jose in the body shop did a great job and everyone at saddleback service dept were great. Dave the service Mgr. and Hutch, and the guys in parts dept were very helpful and I can't forget Leslie as well.
My insurance is with The Hartford and they were the best, No Questons asked they just sent money!!!
I,m a happy camper and Marcia and I are back on the road. We look foward to meeting you on the road soon.

Frank ~ I couldn't believe it when I saw your "Post" ~ that you had a TOYO blow-out. On the way to Homecoming in Oct just north of Fresno our left front Toyo blew on our 2003 with 34000 miles and lots of tread and seemingly great tires. Messed up the side but we haven't had it repaired yet.
Filed a claim with Toyo but they just blew us off. Still fighting with them but have finally turned it over to Progressive Insurance. They want us to take it to Fairway Ford in Placentia but we are inclined to take it to the Paint Department in Chino where we have had other work done - they both have a paint booth.
Can you believe both 40' Alpines in Hunt Bch had Toyo tire failure? I will try to call you tomorrow to compare notes!

Glad to hear that you are back on the road again. We had a Toyo tire failure on the passenger front of our 2000 40' Alpine on the way home from the FMCA Rally in Minot, ND on August 25th. We had 49,000 miles on the tires and they looked to be in excellent shape when the tire blew in Grand Rapids, MI. We had already arranged to have new tires installed in Elkhart, IN about 150 miles away from the failure. $7,400 and 3-1/2 months later we were back on the road and are in Quartzsite.
We thought we hit something in the road as there was a lot of debris on it in a construction zone. Progressive Insurance was wonderful but WRV Parts Department left a lot to be desired to say the least. Wabash Valley Chrysler in Wabash, IN did the repairs and they did a very nice job. Hope to see everyone in Quartzsite!

On my previous post I forgot to mention that we received the Toyo tire bulletin from WRV right before we left in December 2005. I believe the notification was dated November 2004 and was a little too late for our problem that occurred in August 2005. We became concerned in Cheyenne, Lake Stevenson, and Minot when we heard all the horror stories of blow outs on the Toyo tires but were a little too late in getting our new Goodyear tires.
We keep remembering that a bad day RV'ing still beats a good day at work.

Hi Chuck & Marca - It was interesting to read your post. I can't believe the # or the percentage of Alpine Owners who have had blow outs with the TOYO tire. You know that there has to be something wrong with the manufacturing of tires that have plenty of tread, seemingly good sidewalls, relatively low miles that blow. The fact that TOYO has stopped manufacturing RV tires also tells you something. It seems to me that a "Class Action" might be down the road. I think we are going to file a complaint with the National Hwy Traffic Safety Administration and see what happens. With Our blow-out there were no road hazardss and no mitigating circumstances - as well as most of the other people we have talked with. We were fortunate enough to not have an accident. A lot of others have not been as fortunate!
We finally turned a claim into Progressive Ins - and although they were very nice - they said they almost never subrogate to a 3rd party and we would have to get our own Attorney if we wanted to go after Toyo. We had been trying to avoid having an insurance claim!
