Touchpad lights

I noticed when driving at night that the buttons on the transmission pad don't illuminate. I have searched for bulbs but haven't found any. Does anyone know if they are supposed to lite?

….not sure when it "changed" the OEM Allison pad on my 2003 didn't light at night but I had to repair/replace it when it failed.....a repair company provided what I assume is a rebuilt pad of the same model--when I plugged it in, it lights up at night......

Thanks Old Scout.
Since we rarely drive at night I'll continue to use the overhead dome light as necessary, which is very seldom downshift up the long hill to our home at Lake Cushman.
We had plenty of these touch pads in our Seattle City Light fleet of Fliners, Internationals and Petes. I changed a lot of worn out Allison shift pads and seem to recall a fiber optic ribbon wire in there somewhere. It's been nearly 15 years since I turned wrenches there, so I could be wrong. But the linemen at the utility had no problem pushing those fragile pads until they wore a hole in them. Of course they could break anvils with a rubber mallet too....
