travel checklist

OK, so I'm heading across country leaving Oregon on the 24th. Just going through all the things I need to do and what's already been done. So, here's the status report: Mike's front end steering bracket, new rear suspension hanger bolts, front end alignment when new rear end bolts installed, new 500 degree turbo elbow installed last Fall, about $4000 put into the Hydro Hot over the past few years and it now works, new tires last June, tire pressure monitoring system installed, M&G brake system on toad, sealed batteries installed 3 years ago, back-up monitor working (guess it fixed itself), and next week, service at Cummins, engine, generator, etc.
What am I missing? Nothing I hope.
So I'll miss the FMCA rally at Redmond but I will be going as far as Newfoundland.
Happy summer travels to all...........

Hi David. Is your rear spoiler on tight? Do you have a spare battery isolator relay? Those are a couple of the things we've dealt with recently.

Sounds like you're on top of things. Sorry we missed you in Grants Pass, but have a great trip to Newfoundland.

John

OK, I'll bite - what's a battery isolator relay and where is it?

The battery isolator relay is the Big Boy, Fat Boy, Bear, Trombetta--or whatever-- relay that there has been a lot of discussion about. Try: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f104/batt...noid-4068.html among other threads.

The relay connects the two battery banks together to charge them both, and is located in the black box at the back of the battery compartment.

In an effort to be proactive, we swapped out the original one for a new Intellitec when we were in Redlands. Now, we're in Wenatchee, WA. and the new one has failed. So we put the original one, which still works, back on. It's the old "don't fix it if it ain't broke" quandry. I'll probably order a new Bear as a backup when we get home, and use the original relay until it heads south.
