Turbo Hose Broke down near Vegas

Does anyone have a part number for the turbo hose on the 400 ISL we have a 2008 40' MDTS. We are broke down in Henderson NV for two days and the mobile mechanic replaced it with a hose that blew within one mile and they can not figure out what the hose is supposed to be. Seems to
Me I saw something on the form regarding these hoses but I can't locate with my phone. You can me direct should you have any info. Marvin 208-761-2019

Did the mechanic replace the clamps too? The clamps become a weak point when they are reused.

There is a Cummins shop in N Las Vegas. There number is 702-399-2339. Maybe they can help get you the right hose.

Get/use the orange hi-temp hoses; not the blue OEM [low-temp] ones.

Hey guys,

I have the blue hoses, they are fairly new, but I don't mind preventive maintenance.

Is changing hoses a DIY project or a shop job. Keep in mind that I'm old and feeble minded but skinned knuckles and a blood letting don't scare me a bit.

Been there, got the T shirt and the skinned knuckles! The 4" hoses that are on the turbo side of the CAC should be red/orange which signifies high temp. The hoses on the intake side of the CAC can be blue or red. If the shop installed blue on the turbo side that may be why it blew so soon.

Hi all, Thank you all for contributing information. The part number helped emencly. We were along the side of the road just above Bolder City south of Las Vegas with no phone service We called in from a name the NHP and had a road side service company come to us. Long story short we sat for two days while they supposedly looked for a replacnment hose. I gave them the part number from the forum and basically heard nothing for 24 hours. I believe they were running other calls and felt they had us. They finally came back with a black plain rubber hose they said was much superior to the stock hose and installed it, it lasted for one and a half miles and we were down again, this time in a Walmart lot in Henderson where we sat for another 14 hours while "they looked for the stock hose in Vegas". I got on my phone and using the stock number from the forum and contacted Purocil directly who stated there was no stock anuwhere even at distributors as it was a special order item and would take six weeks at best to have made. I found a locl shop in Henderson called Erics and he said I can't come to you but if you can get here I will do something. We limped over in limp mode the 2 miles to his shop at 2-3 miles per hpour. He looked at it and said let me make a call. He came back in five minutes and said he located a hose and would get it put on. One hour from when I arrived at his shop we were up and running with a black silicon hose. About that time the roadside service company called and said they had the Blue OEM hose. I bought that for a spare and we are headed home to Idaho. Hope the black one holds, but if not I now have a spare Thanks for all your input.

Terry if I remember right didn't you replace your heater hoses from the engine all the way up to the front of the coach. Compared to that replacing the turbo hose is a piece of cake. It took me about hour working from the engine bay door and from underneath laying on the floor.

Rick,

Your memory is in good shape, I did replace the heater hoses. I finally healed up from that little project. Funny thing about getting older, just thinking about a job like this makes your arm skin fall off.

I will look up Purosil and get a new hose ordered. I'm not in a bind so if it takes a few weeks it won't matter. I will assume, yeah I know, that the 3648-400-mk number is correct for my '05. I will then have a relatively new blue hose for a spare.

Thanks for the info, Terry
