While your having fun with your hot water tank you might want to replace the hot water inline check valve.Mine gave up the ghost on my last trip.Cold showers are no fun

I replaced the electric heating element and anode rod. PB Plaster and impact driver work ed great. I had to clean the tank, it had allot of calcium in it. Pinhole camera works great to see how dirty it was. Where is the check valve?
