Couple of thoughts on various "pump" issues: 1- my 2003 ISL400 OEM water pump was a paddle/blade design, new replacement pump is a spiral design; 2- Older Alpines used small gauge wire to connect directly between 3-way switches and fresh-water pump--long wire runs and small wire gauge, results in low voltage, excess pump motor heat and premature pump failure. Later Alpines used a latching relay with direct feed from battery to pump; installing a common relay with direct battery feed on older Alpines will save pumps; 3- One of the more common "leaks" on Alpine water systems is the check valve inside the pump. Results in frequent pump cycling. No external leak is visible since water leaks back to fresh tank. You can also install a small to medium size pressure tank to delay normal pump cycling and reduce pipe hammering from multi-piston pumps.

I went with a Remco (5500?)AQUAJET ARV water pump. It is 5.3 GPM and fits exactly Iike the old pump … clip PEX connections and all. It has a lot of features and equals the GPM of the original pump. If you have the choice, I would not go to a smaller capacity. RV Superstore stocked them when I purchased mine a few years ago. It was about $200 w/ free shipping.

OS is right on the money in using a direct battery source! I used the cable reel power with an intermediary relay mounted right next to the pump. I also employed a toggle switch mounted in the service bay to prevent cable reel & pump from trying to operate simultaneously thus blowing a fuse. Only downside is I sometimes forget to switch from cable reel to pump after retracting the power cable.

Had our Pentair Sureflo 4048-153-E75 quit working T/S to the pressure switch, getting the upper Housing kit from Amazon for $30 so will get two and keep one in the spare parts tote.
