What is it?

I have a 1998 36 SDS. I have this vent looking thing (only about an inch in diameter) in my bedroom next to my draws. I removed it and found a black wire with perhaps a sensor?? Does anyone know what this is.

What are "draws"?
The round thingies is a remote sensor for your thermostat.
