Windshield wipers come on by themselves

My windshield wipers come on by themselves. I push off and they stop then start again maybe 10 minutes later sometimes sooner no pattern not when I hit a bump in road. Is it something with the Smart Wheel?

I had the same problem on 2003 Alpine. Had to pull steering wheel and clean the
contact ring. There is a control box on the firewall in front of pass seat. You
can pull the plug that goes to the wipers has a short time solution.
