Windshield Wipers Stuck On
I just replaced the in dash radio in my 2004 Alpine and now the windshield wipers are running continuously even with the ignition key off and removed. I had to unplug the wiper motor to get them to stop running. I should not have disturbed any wires for the wiper system when I replaced the radio, as I just connected up to the existing radio wires. Any ideas?

One place to start is while wipers are running start pulling fuses to see where you have crossed.

Should be under the dash or under the hood.

Not very helpful.
Dan, I think you have the Vansco system so you have very few fuses as such. You could try resetting the Vansco but as mine does not have this I can't help much. Try searching on "vansco" as this has been discussed before.

For a 2004 the wipers are actuated thru the SmartWheel module. IIWMI'd try cycling the chassis batteries Off/On w/the battery disconnect switch. This reboots the Vansco & the SmartWheel cpu's. Might just be a computer brain fart caused by a quick live short while doing the rewiring.
If that doesn't work, back to the drawing board.

Thanks everyone. I turned off the chassis switch in the battery bay for a few minutes to reset the Vansco system and now the wipers are off and work normally!

As I stated my wipers work it's just when I turn them off on the smart wheel they revert to the open position.

I'm old school so it took me a whle to learn that anytime something 12v quits working, RESET THE VANSCO first. 90% of the time it fixes the problem.

To reset just turn off/on chassis battery's thru dis-connect switch, correct? As that resets the Vansco?

Jprince39, The above information applies to an Alpine coach if you own an Alfa See Ya then it may not apply. I for one don't know the systems on an Alfa. There may be another forum that could be of more help. Also adding a signature with your coach and year would be helpful when you ask questions. (my suggestion) If you have a smart wheel try turning the key on and pushing the delay cycle button then the off button after the wipers cycle.
