Wipers are weak and having trouble returning to park position

So I'm out on my shakedown cruise done almost 2 thousand miles so far today I had to use the wipers for an extended period, and well they suck frankly I replaced the drivers side blade with a much smaller one because I don't see the need for such a large blade. However I didn't realize they were screwed on until I had purchased them.
Anyways the wipers are really struggling to return after they go outward, the passenger side is going too far out as well which I believe is causing the arm to hit the glass making a tapping noise
But really the main problem is they stall out in the fully extended position. I had to stop driving when I encountered snow because they quit until I slowed down

My first thought is that the motor is weak but I thought I should get some input before I start changing things
Where would I purchase a motor if I need one?
In fact where do you purchase most of the things you need
Anyone know if there's any adjustment on the throw of the arms
Thanks...

If the blades stop at a different position, the arm may be slipping on the shaft. The arm has a knurled insert that is suppose to prevent slipping on the drive shaft. NAPA can provide replacement blades of the correct size. Show the the old blade.

I know that this might sound weird but here goes! My problem was not quite as severe as yours but this is what I do and have never had a problem since.

I discovered that if I waxed the windshield periodically the bugs were easy to remove during regular cleaning.
What I did not know was the benefit of the wipers being able to slide easier and therefore solving the problem you describe.
I tried RainX but it does not seem to last and does not help the wipers glide on the glass.
I have been doing this for years and have had no problem.
If the motor works too hard it probably won't last.

Like I said it might sound weird but that is what I do.
Also if the wax is fresh most time I don't have to put the wipers on except to get the bugs off.

You need to identify your name and coach size and model at the end of your post, so

anyone who wants to help with your problem will know how to approach the solution. For instance, I saw from an earlier post that you bought a 1999 model. It has a split windshield. Newer models have a one piece windshield, and this makes a huge difference in replacement parts, etc.

Go back to page 2 on the scroll list and look up "Windshield spray hose kit" or something like that, posted by Dr. Dave, and look at post #5. There you will find the name & address of the company that made all the Alpine windshield wipers. They can give you all the info and parts that you need. You will need a model number that is on the wiper motor. Open the front clip and look up at the motor. Dudley Do-Right Alpine Apex 40MDTS
