I'm standing in line to ask the stupid question of the day.
Although the kit is for 2004 and newer Alpines, will it work on a 2000?

If I find out I have a cracked bracket.

Take a look at the photo in post #5 of this thread. If yours looks like that, the answer is, probably. It is essentially a piece of angle iron and some G-8 bolts.

My understanding is the early coaches did not have the poor design.

Edit: In fact, the first post at the top of this second page is from Old Scout. He says it's only 2003+

Cracked steering brackets have been reported on earlier Alpines.

AKOne had the problem on a 1999, so it isn’t exclusive to certain years. It is more common on 2004 and later models as it is believed a thinner gauge steel was used for the mount.

One mostly true fact about an Alpine Coach is that the facts aren’t always accurate.

++ for RVPioneer....the "steering fix" was originally developed to address the 2004 and newer coaches with a thinner gauge of metal used in the mounting bracket....to the extent the older brackets are similar to the newer ones--the "fix" kit may work, or a similar shaped piece of angle-iron.....Bottom-line: 2004 and newer bracket issues were due to thinner metal....older brackets become susceptible thru age and fatigue.....
