'07 dolphin basement door strut brackets bending

The brackets that are mounted on the basement doors(upper strut mount) are bending which inturn is causing the strut to pop off the brackets. Has anyone had this problem? Also what is causing this? Could the strut be to strong for the application? Any HELP will be appreciated.

The retainer clip on the strut end may be worn out and not holding on to the ball support. The upper bracket may be mislocated a little and causing this problem.

Hello
Had same problem when I bought my 97 dolphin two years ago. most of the gas springs were not working. would not hold door open or were rusted that you could not move door without busting brackets. replaced all of them now Ok. they are available at spdhardware.com The model is SPD GSNI-500-60. The 60 is the pressure of the springs, cost $15.00 each.

The bracket is made from aluminum and bends easy I made new ones out of mild steel I had to weld the ball back on and pop rivet them back on I've had no problems since
