1997 Dolphin

Looking at a 97 dolphin, current owner has put all new batteries in it and is having new brakes and lines put on has all new tires, and all systems works great. Problem I need help with is that when we took it down the interstate for test run it had a slight vibration, or shimmy, not bad at all, but he said it didn't do that last time he drove. Was wondering since it has brand new tires all around if one could have a flat spot from sitting? Or could it be something worse, like a u-joint or something. Hope someone can give me some help pretty quick thanks.

If it is tire flat spots it will go away in warm weather after about 20 miles or so.

You did not mention the speed you were driving when the shimmy occurred. If it was between 40 and 50 then there is some likelihood there is play in the steering linkage. On that age coach the rubber bushings on the sway bar or the cross link may need to be replaced. An experienced mechanic should be able to identify the problem in short order with a test drive and a few minutes underneath with a pry bar.

Thans for the quick reply. When I took the wheel and started driving I really didn't think too much of the vibration it seemed to ease off after I got up to speed 60mph. I didn't feel and play in the wheel all felt as it should. I would hope that the shop where current owner is having brakes done would notice anything going on in the front end.

When they installed the new tires, were they balanced? Maybe not, or not balanced right.
