What is the maximum tire size any of you have used as a replacement for the standard Michelin 235 x 80 x 22.5?

I just put on Yokohamas, size 245/75R22.5. They are real close to the originals. Wider but a couple of tenths shorter. I bought them from simpletire.com and had them installed at our goodyear dealer. $1771.00 for the tires and $541.38 for installation with new steel stems and beads and tire disposal. At least the Yokohamas are made in Japan not china. Michelins aren't made in the states either, and you couldn't give me a set of them anyways. The last three MH I've owned has had Michelins and they were all in the same condition, cracked so bad I was holding my breath all the way home after the purchase.

That's what my dealer recommended. Said going to the 255/70/22.5 might be too close together as he was having trouble finding the section width on some of the china made tires. He said goodyears weren't available till the end of June, and they were almost the cost of Michelins too. Also you need to stick to a tire that will fit your wheel right.

My MH dealer recommend 275-70R22.5 and another '99 TW owner recommend 265-75R22.5 instead of the factory 235-80R22.5 tires. I didn't follow any of their advice and bought 255-70R22.5 (36.73" diameter) tires.

I had a 2 year old Michelin blow out (F-L) on a prior MH and do a lot of damage including taking the out the hydraulic brakes. The experience left me less of a Michelin fan. When I bought my '99 TW 7372 I did a lot of research and decided to go with a Chinese tire, the Sailun S637 255-70R22.5. I put them on in October 2015 and have been on the highway 15 of the last 17 months travelling 10,111 miles across seven states. I plan to replace them in October 2019. No issues whatsoever so far. Today I would buy them again. We'll see how I feel in 2019.

Great! Thank you! Now, how do you get a tire dealer to mount tires that you did not buy from them?

All I had to do was ask. They wanted the work. Simpletire may have an installer in your neighborhood.

My buddy has a Storm and it had Sailun tires on it when he bought it. We changed them out a year ago last Dec. I had a Daybreak at the time and we decided to replace the tires ourselves. We bought Samson, a Chinese tire and really liked them. The Sailun tires we took off looked real good but were going on 8 years old, no weather damage at all. If Samson would have made the size I wanted I'd have bought them again. The section width on a 245 is 1" wider than the 235 and the 75 series is .2 " shorter than the 80, that's as close as we could come.

I'd be afraid to go too big a tire because of the wheel width, and the dealer was worried about the tire space between the duels. Mine has several inches between so I could have went with a larger tire, but I would stay with the 75 series for the height.
