Had to leave on the trip to Vegas before I was able to do the oil change and I only had a bit over 6K miles on it. On the way home the engine started surging when I started it one morning and only smoothed out when I gave it some more fuel. The next morning it did the same thing and then stopped. I let it sit for about 5 minutes and tried it again and it ran great, but threw a check engine light for about a minute and then went out. About half way thru the day the light blinked several times and went out,so I pulled into a rest area and did a walk around with the engine running and found that it was blowing a bit of black smoke from the slobber tube. Of course, when I went to open the hatch, one latch wouldn't pop out, sooooo,I now need to replace that latch 'cuz it got broken off when a large screwdriver was applied to it. I shut it off and waited about 15 minutes and checked the oil and it was full. Hadn't burned a drop in about 1300 miles.
When I got home,I called Cat and got the method for checking the codes and it came up a 15 and 39 ,which are injector sensor faults and she's going to the Cat shop on Monday. One possible thing is that on a Cat Forum I looked at ,they were discussing the same thing from 2010 and it was caused by dirty oil and my oil was getting a bit past 10K. I'll also be having them do an LOF while I'm there.
As I said in the Cat forum on here,I may have to refinance my house to pay the bill.
