2000 7372 National Tradewinds

Sliding floor to cover steps while in motion does not work. It,s in the open position. When you push the close button you can hear a click and that's all. Can't find any info. on this subject.
Would appreciate any advice

Maybe a solenoid? Crawl under the stairs or on the inside stairs a panel will come off, I do not know which.


Also, how are the brakes on you Tradewinds? I also have a 2000 7372 and my brakes are VERY heavy foot press...almost like no power brakes......do you have power brakes? I bought it about 1 ago like this and told brakes were just done?????

I looked under stairs also in the panel near the stairs with the switches. Found nothin.
My brakes seem ok I mostly leave the engine brake on.
I just found out the wood panel underneath the driver window behind all the switches is rotted away seems there has been a leak somewhere near the drivers window. Not sure what I am to do about that.

two things re rotton wood, National had some bad siding and it delamanted that "might" be the problem there, now on floor /stair cover might check the deploying motor and tracks for it.. there should be a manual way to move it in and out try that then find the motor and feed power directly to it to see if its bad..think 12 volts dc for power and check grounds on it as well

Still no luck with stairwell cover. Wish there was a sycmatic out there on these nationals.

Still haven't found access to the motor. But undo the pin on shaft connected under the step. You can manually screw that shaft in to close the step. Takes lot of turn then push the cover closed .or pull out and up to remove cover. Gave access to wiring but not motor.

My stairwell cover is stuck in the retracted , "in" position. So passenger just needs to be careful not to fall on the steps. during travel. P.S. on my coach the exit / entrance door is in front of the passenger seat, front of the coach.
