2002 National 3655 Dolphin dash fuse box

Good morning everyone and its another beautiful day in the NC Mountains. I have this problem and I'm sure others have the same problem. There are two fuse boxes under the dash by the drivers feet. One is mainly for the dash board and the other is for the hydraulic jacks. My problem is, I cant get to the fuse boxes with out removing the drivers seat. I could have my grand child crawl between the seat and the steering wheel but I don't think so. I am thinking about relocating those fuse boxes under the drivers side window. I have plenty of room for them. Does anyone have this problem and what have you done to get to the fuse boxes?

I would think moving those fuse boxes is a major undertaking. The wiring harness' would be exactly long enough for their current locations and a bunch of splicing would risk new issues. You shouldn't be seeing fuse failures, if you are, whatever issue is causing a particular circuit to pop the fuse should be corrected. If you do have occasional overload of a certain fuse you might take that seat out one time and put a push button reset fuse or a circuit breaker in place of that fuse. That's my opinion, anyway and I feel your pain because I don't fit beside that seat either. Best of luck and remember: fuses save fires.

Couldn’t agree more

I am having the same problem trying to locate the fuse for cigarette lighter. I will probably have to remove the driver’s seat to locate the fuse. The National manuals do not appear to show where the fuse is.

Good luck on your move.

Im not able to reach the fuse box without removing the drivers seat. 4- 1/2" bolts hold the seat in and the nuts are over the tire. Its a job to get the seat out just to replace a fuse. I will be using the solder type w/ heat shrink to make the connections. Something has to be done.

Fuse Box Access

This may or may not help, but on my 2003 6355 Dolphin LX, I have a panel on the top of the dash that lifts off providing easy access to the two fuse boxes mentioned. I have no idea how I could access them without the removable panel. It would probably be easier to cut a hole in your dash then try to relocate the fuse panels. Wish I could be more helpful!!

There is actually 4 bolts that connects the chair to the pedestal. You will need to disconnect the cable for the swivel then the chair just lifts off.

I dont have a removeable panel on the 2002 National Dolphin 6355. So today I am removing the drivers seat and using those new to me solder heat crimp connectors and putting the existing fuse box below and behind the drivers window. I will let everyone know how it works. It shouldnt be a problem moving this fuse box. Time will tell.

Dash Board fuse box relocated.

Good Morning everyone. I removed the fuse box located under the dash board by the drivers left foot. I had to remove the drivers seat, no problem with that, and wire by wire I spliced in about 4' of wire to each of the fuse box wires. If any one does this, about 6 of the wires are 12 gauge. I believe there were about 15 wires to splice. I used the new type solder / heat shrink connectors and they worked great. I used a candle lighter to melt the solder and heat shrink. On our motorhome, Dolphin #6355, there is a panel under the window, drivers side, that holds the hydraulic jacks. On the left side of the panel there is a removable panel and the fuse box with the wood panel with the fuses attached, fit into the opening just perfect. Two screws holds the fuse panel in place. All the wires were tucked into the base of the panel so nothing shows. Looks professional. Yea!!! The leveling jack controller is still under the dash. It has 4 fuses in it and there is another fuse box with 2 relays only. I didnt move these. Hopefully I never will need to get to these. One note, the fuse box I relocated had a wire loose. All the wires are the spade type but yes, one was pulled off. Now all my electronics are working.

About how many wires had to be lengthened?
