2002 National Tradewinds 7391

After looking for what seemed an exhausting 2 months, my wife and I decided on this rig. We read this and other forums for quite a bit during our searching.
To say the least, we sure didn't know what we didn't know!! And to top it off, the more I mess around with it the more I realize I'm virtually drowning in ignorance.
We bought it from a seemingly nice couple in Arkansas. But soon found out that they left a good bit to be desired in the "disclosure" department
One thing that helps is I got a big expando file of brochures and such for all the vendors products. There is no "owners manual"
Needless to say I have spent a great deal of time simply staring and thinking "what in the world is this?" all over this thing.
I go from thinking this is the most cool, awesome thing in the world to holy cow I have bought a giant cash shredding machine and better bail while we can.
We are both 61 and wanted to do something with what little money we have, that we can enjoy together.
We did take a trip from Missouri where we live to grand Isle LA for a week.
It was great. Good thing God loves dummies too though. Lucky ones
So I guess I'll be asking a lot of stuff here while I work on keeping this giant complex thing operational.
It's been good reading about all of you guy's experiences and learning all I can but now I'm gonna have to wade in and join the fun.

Welcome

Welcome to the group. Do you happen to know the engine and chassis your Tradewinds is built with?

Yes it has the 8.3 350 HP Cummins and the Freightliner XC chassis with independent front suspension.

Well at the moment it has the dump valve on the rear leveling valve leaking.
So it won't inflate the rear suspension. I have the part already but am waiting for the tools to remove the rear wheels to arrive. Until then I'm dead in the water.
Basically there is no one to work on this except me.
But I kinda knew that when I bought it.
Trust me I'll have loads more questions before long.
It's inside my shop at the moment and not winterized yet because I'm still hoping to drive it to New Mexico for Thanksgiving.
If we end up taking the car instead then, I'll need to winterize it and work on it over the winter.
Thanks guys for being here. This is great knowing that there are people out there who are willing to take the time to help.

You'll find that there are lots of loyal National owners around and that they are a great bunch of people. We bought our Tradewinds in 2015 after trading lots of messages and emails with other owners. They were of tremendous assistance to us and now we're on the list of those willing to return the favor.

I have owned our 2002 Tradewinds 7391 since September, 2009. We have really enjoyed this rv. As you can imagine, I have had many things that needed repair or replacing. Some I could handle myself, some I could not. I am open to any and all questions you my have about your unit.....
