Dan I don't know about re-naming the thread ; you'd have to approach the site administrators or moderators for info on that .

Thank you. I have not sne that construction in a long time. I looked into a replacement motor and they are more than I expected. I will definitely try to rehab mine.

To your knowledge are all bronze bearings oiled with felt?

Mine is definitely bolted together. Have you taken one apart? It might be easier to disassemble, soak, and reassemble?

(I have also reorded spare relays. )

Thanks again.

Yes to the best of my knowledge , all small motors that use bronze bushings , have the surrounding oil soaked felt.

It's been several years since I had my blower motor out and can't say for certain as to bearing or bushings .
I think mine was riveted together ; but that might be my memory playing tricks .
At the time I was after a vibration , caused by dirt build up on the squirrel cage.

Update:
Motor disassembly was very easy, there were 2 bolts holding the front and back casings together. The round circular metal mounting plate was held between them. The perminant magnet was shapped to fit inside the casings. The bearings were part of the casings, the rotor fit was mounted in the bearings.

I added 3:1 machine oil the felts, which were visiable, and let it soak for 30 minutes or so. I then mopped up any extra oil with paper towels.

In order to assemble the rotor between the brushes I drilled 2 small holes and unsed paper clips as brush retainers.

Assembly of the rotor, perminant magnet, the casings, and the mounting plate was by touch and feel. Removal of the paper clips took confidence that if i rotated them 90 degrees I would not harm the brush wires, that seemed to work.
The motor tested working, and the shaft definitely has a smoother feel.

All good. Thank you for the pointers, they definitely provided confidence to proceed. One less worry bead while driving.
