2004 Dolphin front TV removal

I finally got tired of that old TV up front. The reception was fair at best with the converter box connected, so out it came! I was glad that me son in law was there for that project. I have the new TV (Sharp 32in.) ready to go in, I just hope that part of the project goes OK. I am also happy that the old TV never fell while driving, that is one heavy piece of electronics. Happy Camping Gayle

Hi gseefield,

Removed the RCA 27" TV in our '05 Dolphin 6 weeks ago. Replaced it with a 32" Samsung HD TV. What a difference, not worring about the 100 lb. tube overhead. The new TV sets flush with the rest of the cabinetry. If you would like photos email me at ejhessemer@hotmail.com.

Just pulled our 27" RCA & it's probably pretty close to the Dolphin's setup. The wooden face trim held the TV in place & the screws to remove the trim where accessible through the cabinets on either side of the TV. The tray the TV sat on had a couple U-shaped welded brackets that slipped into slots on the bottom of the TV. We had to saws-all the brackets off in order to slide the TV out without further disassembly. You need two persons to lower the TV & it take it out the door. The square hole left by the 27" TV was quite a bit taller than what the rectangular shaped 32" LCD TV needs. But the new LCD has down-firing speakers, so my cabinet making friend crafted a speaker grill onto the lower part of the new trim plate (see: National RV Tropical T370 page 3 index ). In the end, the LCD mounts flush with rest of the cabinets (instead of sticking out five inches), and it looks as good as the factory would have done! Total time about half a day to remove & install, plus another day for the trim plate.

Hi gseefield,
We replaced both TV's in our 99 Tradewinds and really like the results. I was worried about the weight of the front and just didn't like the way the back was mounted.
Good Luck
Dick
