2005 National Dolphin Dash Fault Light
Hello Family,
I recently purchased my coach and being a used model I understand there will be issues. I have a check engine light. 2 questions:
1) Isn't there a factory setup that allows us to flip the ignition switch then engage the wipers to get a code? (I say the sequence jokingly).
2) I recently purchased a scanner to attach under the dash to get the codes, but I'm a big guy and getting under enough to see is difficult for me. Does anyone know where exactly the plug under the dash is so that I can scan the system?
Anyone that can help I sure would appreciate it. Thx Ted

Welcome to iRV2.
I have to ask what chassis your coach is built on .
Ford had so many complaints about the coach manufacturers not locating the OBD II connector properly when the dash was installed ; they issued this bulletin .

We have an '05 Dolphin and a recurring "check engine" light comes from one of the knock sensors expiring. The good news is that it is easily replaced. The ODI socket is almost directly above the steering column under the dash.
If you retrieve the users/owner's manual for the MH, there is usually a "how to reset" the warning lights in the engine section. (engine off, turn ignition switch "on" but don't start the engine, depress the gas peddle 3 times within 30 seconds, old your breath, close left eye, squint... or some such). If you have a code reader, it can also reset the warning lights (usually). Get it from Harbor Freight.

2005 Dolphins were all on either the Workhorse W-22 or W-24 chassis.

Mine is very bottom of where the steering shaft goes through floor.. in other words RIGHT.. where you would set your left foot.. mounted 3 inch up on bracket.. it is so well hidden.. same color.. black.. so you need good flashlights..
Your cell phone with camera and flash and record is your best friend and fits where your head cannot.. so use that.. hold it under there until you find it.. p.o. could have moved it.. but not far..
You can take pos off battery to reset.. but you will loose codes..
They made it a real pain to get to.. I have same problem..
So connector is black.. same color as bracket.. and mounted where your left foot would rest.. unless moved behind column bracket..
Good luck and let us know what you did and maybe better members then me will help you

o2 sensor, overfilling the gas tank, all cause the engine light. Code reader is the only way to know if it does not go out.
