2007 National Pacifica

I have an Onan generator on our 2007 National Pacifica. Every now and then when I walk past the coach I hear a rapid ticking noise. when I pull the generator out the on off switch is light up red. If I push the button to prime and then off the ticking noise stops. problem is a day or two later its the same thing. the generator will start and run just fine. any suggestions would be helpful. It doesn't matter if I use the remote switch inside the coach or on the generator its the same results. I push the rocker switch to prime the stop and the ticking noise stops. I baffled.

And the rocker switch being bad could be causing the timer to go nuts as well!

My Onan was starting on it's own as we were driving. Found the 10 wire Onan 12 volt connector to the chassis wiring had become corroded. I found that only four of the wires in that $75 connector were being used so I just spliced them together rather than buy a new connector.

Durn... I wish I could get the one on my rig to start. It just turns over very slowly and finally stops. I am planning on trying to start it by unhooking the battery wires to it and hitting it with my 25 amp charger.
I also have the problem of after trying to start it several times, the red light stays on and the hour meter keeps running. I did replace one of the rocker switches,I think the gennie start switch, and am going to replace the battery boost switch and the gennie prime switch. It appears that after 10-12 years that a number of switches, relays and fuses are starting to go bad.

Problem solved for now

Ok so I started the motor home and moved it to the driveway to pursue this clicking noise determined to find the cause. since I started it and moved the motorhome it has stopped. my hope was once it started clicking I would trace the sound to its source. Anyway now I cant reproduce the issue Thanks all for the great suggestions and responses.

Onan generator ticking

My Onan was also ticking and after a search,I found it was the fuel pump. I disconnected the plug at the remote panel and after 1 minute connected it.No more ticking. Tom 07 Pacifica 40B
