2008 Surf Side

We have been looking at RV's forever-and found a 2008 NATIONAL SURF SIDE (exterior looks great-full body paint, etc). We like the floor plan, coach quality of NATIONAL.

However-The interior of this RV (which they state is original) does NOT look like any other SURF SIDE we have ever seen:

- For example-TILE all the way into bedroom
- No TV in back (just an empty hole)
- Couch does NOT match-IT IS FLORAL RED
- Mixed match patterns on valences (one looks like something NATIONAL didn't even provide provide)
- Cabinets over the driver and passenger (NOT FRONT) don't even have doors
- Even the dinnette is missing something (isn't they a light or something on the back of dinner between dinner and coach.

Anyone ever seen something like this? What happened to all of the coaches NATIONAL had in production when they went out of business? Did they create any mix matched stuff like this in the final days?

The price is OK-inline with what we have seen comparable units-this one has full body paint (looks good), 2 AC's, 5K generator-just something seems weird with the interior.

Wife says-YES! Any excuse to buy a couch is a good one for her...but I just wonder.

Would you buy it still if the price was inline with NADA? NOTE-NADA does NOT list a 2008 SURF SIDE (go figure)

It appears the coach you are looking at may be one that was finished by management after the let the assembly workers go. Many times National would use what they had in house to finish out coaches. I had a 2001 SurfSide that was finished out with many upgrades from higher line coaches.

Is is still worth it? The idea of managers building RV's sounds like a bad idea...

Hey, The tile is the Norm, Sofa was or is different from what would have been init as for the cabinets up front, mine has doors on it. As for the TV in the bedroom, should have had one there, doesn't mean you couldn't replace it. Or if you're buyin from a dealer, make them put one in. Should be a lamp above the dinner table. Need better pictures to tell what else might be out of place!

Lots of folks renovate, upgrade, and simply redecorate the inside of their moho's to their liking, making it special to them. I would only worry about the coach systems, the engine, the tranny, and any water damage. Tires are expensive, be sure to check the date codes. If you are not comfortable checking out all of these items, spend the money to hire the right folks to do it for you. Make the dealer prove that all recalls have been taken care, if any apply to your coach.

We have owned our National Dolphin for 9 years, and still love it. Hard to beat the quality for the price nowadays.

Good luck with your decision!
